Lady Indians Spank CFE

The Lady Indians defeated the Christian Family Educators (CFE) Lady Falcons 78-12 on Tuesday, January 30, in St. Francis. Though the game was a mis-match, the effort expended by both teams was very good. St. Francis jumped out to a 19-2 advantage after one quarter of play and continued to extend the lead throughout the contest. Getting two baskets by Hanna Bracelin, a bucket by Lindsey Johnson, and a steal-two by Taighe Weeter, the Lady Indians jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the opening moments triggering a CFE time-out at 5:41. The Lady Indians' defensive pressure continued to create turnovers and the margin increased to 15-0 on a free-throw by Jylian Laten. The Lady Falcons scored at the 2:18 mark of the first period on a drive by Brenna Crow. An offensive rebound basket by Lauren Johnson and an out-of-bounds play bucket by Bracelin (assist Karly Bandel) completed the first period. St. Francis led at the break 19-2. Bracelin scored 10 points in the period.

A stick-back basket by Hannah Zimbal moved the score to 23-2 before the Lady Falcons scored again; this time on two free-throws by Crow. With everyone suited on both teams seeing plenty of action, the margin increased to 43-4 just before halftime on an assist by Emileigh Dinkel on a Taighe Weeter score. Weeter, Hanna Bracelin, and Lindsey Johnson each scored 6 or more points in the period.

The Lady Indians would score the first 15 points of the third period to extend the margin to 58-4, before the Lady Falcons scored again. St. Francis led 63-7 at the third quarter break with a addition of a trey by Lauren Johnson (assist Bracelin) at the buzzer.

The final period was played with a running clock. At 6:50, a steal and assist by Emma Johnson led to a lay-up by Karly Bandel. The basket increased the margin to 60 points (67-7). St. Francis won the contest 78-12.
