Junior High Performs Well in Opening Meet

The junior high track teams made a good showing in their opening meet of the season on Thursday, April 10. The Indians scored 30 points to place 7th in the 8-team Rawlins County Invitational. The Lady Indians scored 111 team points to place second. Individual event winners for St. Francis included Jeanie Strick in the 200 m hurdles and Mia Morrow in the triple jump. The girls 4 X 100 m relay team consisting of Ellee Krien, Mia Morrow, Jeanie Strick, and McKenna Poling also won first place.

Mia Morrow set a new 8th grade school record in the triple jump soaring 31' 3.5". The old record was 30' 10.5" set by Taighe Weeter in 2016.

Lady Indians

Rawlins County won the girls division of the Rawlins County Invitational scoring 119 team points. St. Francis placed second with 111. The remainder of the competing teams finished in the following order:  3rd - Golden Plains 107, 4th - Quinter -62, 5th - Wallace County 61, 6th - Decatur Community 31, 7th - Hoxie 26, and 8th - Cheylin 9.

Lady Indians placing in the meet are listed below.

Ellee Krien - 2nd in the 400 m (1:06.81); 3rd in the 200 m dash (31.01)

Lyden Lampe - 3rd in the 3200 m run (15:10.00)

Mia Morrow - 1st in triple jump (31' 3.5") NEW SCHOOL RECORD; 2nd in 100 m dash (14.11)

McKenna Poling - 2nd in the 200 m dash (30.56); 5th in the 100 m dash (14.49)

Anglea Ramirez - 6th in shot put (29' 5")

Jeanie Strick - 1st in the 200 m hurdles (32.18); 2nd in 100 m hurdles (18.28)

Talexa Weeter - 2nd in pole vault (6' 6"); 3rd in high jump (4' 0"); 4th in the 800 m run (3:05.56)

4 X 100 m relay - 1st (56.75) - Ellee Krien, Mia Morrow, Jeanie Strick, and McKenna Poling

4 X 200 m relay - 2nd (2:10.30) - Mia Morrow, Hadleigh Hilt, Angela Ramirez, Rian Zimbal

4 X 400 m relay - 2nd (5:00.86) - Ellee Krien, McKenna Poling, Jeanie Strick, and Lyden Lampe

Indians

Hoxie won the boys division of the Rawlins County Invitational with 131 team points. Decatur Community placed second with 109 and Rawlins County 3rd with 72 points. The rest of the field placed in the following order:  4th - Quinter 66, 5th - Golden Plains 57, 6th - Cheylin 33, 7th - St. Francis 30, and 8th - Wallace County 29.

Indians placing in the meet are listed below.

Ben Busse - 2nd in 800 m run (2:40.02); 4th in 3200 m run (12:45.80)

Shannon Rethke - 2nd in 200 m hurdles (31.68); 4th in 100 m hurdles (19.41)

4 X 100 m relay - 4th (57.65) - Shannon Rethke, Preston Witzel, Garrett Helton, and Eli Mills

4 X 200 m relay - 6th (2:19.09) - Aiden Fernandez, Colton Raile, Eli Mills, and Caleb Todd

4 X 400 m relay - 6th (5:19.87) - Shannon Rethke, Caleb Todd, Rhonald Neitzel, and Cris Espino

The teams will compete in the St. Francis Invitational on Tuesday, April 17.
