Indians Win Oakley Invitational

Lady Indians Place 9th

Due to predicted weather conditions, the Oakley Invitational Track and Field Meet was moved from Friday to Thursday, April 19. Thirteen teams competed in the meet. The Indians placed first in the boys division scoring 138 team points. The Lady Indians placed 9th with 25 team points.

St. Francis athletes winning events included Wyatt Hackler (100 meter dash), Jordan Raby (200 meter dash), Luin Norris (shot put), and Richard Johnson (pole vault). St. Francis won all the boys relay races; the 4 X 100 relay team (Adam Krien, Jordan Raby, Dalton Straub, and Wyatt Hackler), 4 X 400 (Jordan Raby, Wyatt Hackler, Adam Krien, and Tate Busse), and 4 X 800 (K.C. Krien, Brady Dinkel, Jake Faulkender, and Tate Busse) each earned first place.

The highest place earned by the Lady Indians was 2nd in the 4 X 800 meter relay. The team consists of Hanna Zimbal, Taighe Weeter, Emma Johnson, and Kattie Wurm.

Girls Division

Trego Community won the girls division with 115 team points. Oakley was a distant second with 84. Golden Plains placed 3rd with 76. The remainder of the teams placed in the following order:  4th - Rawlins County 70.5, 5th - Wallace County 68, 6th - Quinter 36.5, 7th - Wheatland-Grinnell 29, 8th - Hill City 26, 9th - St. Francis 25, 10th - Triplains 15, 11th - Weskan 10, 12th (tie) - Brewster 0, and 12th (tie) - Heartland Christian 0.

Jylian Laten - 5th in 300 meter hurdles (59.11)

Hannah Zimbal - 4th in 400 meters (1:06.09)

4 X 100 meter relay - 5th (55.69) - Lindsey Johnson, Madison Tice, Joslyn Ketzner, and Jylian Laten

4 X 400 meter relay - 3rd (4:41.41) - Hannah Zimbal, Madison Tice, Joslyn Ketzner, and Lauren Johnson

4 X 800 meter relay - 2nd (11:02.17) - Hannah Zimbal, Taighe Weeter, Emma Johnson, and Kattie Wurm

Boys Division

St. Francis won the boys division accumulating 138 team points. Trego Community placed 2nd with 96 and Oakley 3rd with 82. The remaining teams finished in the following order:  4th - Hill City 46, 5th - Wallace County 42, 6th - Weskan 33, 7th - Golden Plains 30, 8th -Brewster 22, 9th - Rawlins County 20, 10th - Wheatland-Grinnell 19, 11th - Heartland Christian 12, 12th - Quinter 10, and 13th - Triplains 8.

Jake Faulkender - 2nd in 3200 meters (10:55.10)

Connor Keller - 4th in high jump (5' 6")

K.C. Krien - 6th in 400 meters (58.35)

Wyatt Hackler - 1st in 100 meters (11.24)

Richard Johnson - 1st in pole vault (12' 0"), 4th in long jump (19' 0.5")

Luin Norris - 1st in shot put (40' 10.5"), 2nd in discus (137' 8")

Nick Paulsen - 6th in javelin (125' 11")

Tiernan Poling - 4th in pole vault (10' 6"), 4th in triple jump (39' 1")

Tyson Poling - 8th in 800 meters (2:33.68)

Jordan Raby - 1st in 200 meters (22.63), 2nd in 100 meters (11.25)

The track teams will compete in the St. Francis Invitational Track and Field Meet on Tuesday, April 24th.
