Behind the Scenes: Trayton Doyle Senior Feature

Trayton Doyle, graduating senior of 2018, plans to attend college at Fort Hays State University for physical therapy. Doyle said his motivation for this career choice is because of his injury junior year. He dislocated his clavicle. “The physical therapists seemed to help me get back on track and help me get back to chasing a dream, and I just want to help others get back to chasing their own dreams,”Doyle said.

Doyle has been a varsity football player, a wrestler, and a thrower for track all four years of high school. In football, Doyle was selected for NWKL All-League second team center in 2015 and first team last year, honorable mention nose guard in 2015 and first team in 2016.

Football Assistant Coach Devin Dinkel said it was “a good achievement for him. He worked hard at what he does.” Dinkel is also Doyle’s track coach and said he is self motivated to get better.

Dinkel said Doyle excels at math academically. “He has always understood math very quickly and turns his assignments in on time,” said Dinkel, who along with being his football and track coach is also Doyle’s math teacher.

Doyle said the best thing about being in high school was being a part of “my sports teams.”

Doyle also made it to state wrestling and won third place.

“This is a young man who has meant an awful lot to this program,” said Dylan Loyd, wrestling coach. “Throughout his four-year high school wrestling career he has had to overcome a lot of obstacles.  Whether it be sickness, injury, etc. he never made excuses, he never took his eyes off the prize, and as his coaches we are very proud of him and the imprint he has had on this program. I know he had set a goal to becoming a state champion when he first got into the sport many years ago, but he has nothing to hang his head about. He gave it a go and fell just short to the eventual champion in the semi-finals. A coach once told me years ago that it’s harder to come back and take third than it is win, and I believe that. It takes a special human being to bounce back in a short amount of time and show everyone the type of person they are. The goal was to be a state champion, but he bounced back and got the next best thing.”

Senior Luke Lampe described Doyle as a winner. “He’s a leader and will do whatever what it takes to win,” said Lampe, who said they have been friends since preschool.

Doyle said he was nominated for football captain all four years.

“I’m always trying to reach my potential,” Doyle said. “Everybody’s told me I have a lot of potential and I’ve wanted to achieve as much as I possibly could and unlock that potential others see in me.”
