Track Teams Compete in Oberlin Invitational

On Tuesday, May 1, the high school track teams competed in the Oberlin Invitational Track and Field Meet. Eight teams participated in the meet. St. Francis placed second in the mens division and sixth in the womens division. 

Several St. Francis athletes won individual events. Jordan Raby placed first in the 100 meter dash. K.C. Krien won the 800 meter run, and Richard Johnson won the pole vault.

Mens Division

Smith Center won the mens division with a whopping 209.5 team points. St. Francis placed second with 102.5 points. The remainder of the teams finished in the following order:  3rd - Phillipsburg 97, 4th - Norton Community 71, 5th - Hoxie 35, 6th - Decatur Community 21, 7th -Rawlins County 12, and 8th Southwest Public 10.

Indians placing in the Oberlin Invitational are listed below.

Tayton Doyle - 5th in shot put (41' 10.75"), 5th in discus (121' 10")

Jake Faulkender - 2nd in 1600 meters (4:49.44), 3rd in 800 meters (2:13.10)

Hunter Helton - 6th in javelin (129' 2")

Richard Johnson - 1st in pole vault (12' 6"), 2nd in triple jump (39' 0.5")

Adam Krien - 6th in 200 meters (24.69), 6th in 400 meters (56.08)

K.C. Krien - 1st in 800 meter (2:10.12)

Luin Norris - 2nd in discus (131' 7")

Tiernan Poling - 2nd in pole vault (12' 0"), 3rd in triple jump (38' 7.5")

Jordan Raby - 1st in 400 meters (50.51)

Dalton Straub - 2nd in long jump (19' 0")

Kobe Tice - 6th in pole vault (9' 6")

Aaron White - 4th in 3200 meters (12:59.55)

4 X 100 meter relay - 6th (51.13) - Conner Keller, K.C. Krien, Kobe Tice, and Jesse Baxter

4 X 400 meter relay - 2nd (3:42.83) - Jordan Raby, Adam Krien, Cody Baxter, and Dalton Straub

Womens Division

Phillipsburg won the womens division with 125 team points. Decatur Community placed second with 96 and Hoxie third with 95.5 points. The rest of the field finished in the following order:  4th - Rawlins County 77, 5th - Smith Center 74, 6th - St. Francis 37, 7th - Southwest Public 36.5, and 8th - Norton Community 15.

Lady Indians placing in the meet are listed below.

Jessica Confer - 5th in shot put (32' 4")

Lindsey Johnson - 4th in 200 meters (30.04), 5th in 100 meters (14.19)

Jylian Laten - 4th in long jump (14' 4.5"), 6th in 300 meter hurdles (58.24)

Hannah Zimbal - 2nd in 800 meters (2:38.89)

4 X 100 meter relay - 3rd (55.43) - Lindsey Johnson, Madison Tice, Joslyn Ketzner, and Jylian Laten

4 X 400 meter relay - 4th (4:32.19) - Hannah Zimbal, Joslyn Ketzner, Madison Tice, and Kattie Wurm

4 X 800 meter relay - 3rd (11:06.06) - Hanna Zimbal, Taighe Weeter, Emma Johnson, and Kattie Wurm
