Featuring: Jylian Laten

This self-taught, musically-gifted student loves to play her ukulele and trumpet and take pictures in her spare time.  Jylian Laten accomplishes a lot because of her motivation.

“When I set any goal I intend to reach it no matter what, and my parents and the rest of my family push me to work hard to make that goal a reality,” said Laten.

Laten has big goals for her future including attending Colby Community College to become a dental hygienist. “When I was little, every time I had my teeth checked I was so excited to learn what all was going on in my mouth,” Laten said. “My uncle is a dentist and he has inspired me to be in the dental field.”

Laten is the oldest sibling in the family with two younger brothers. “I think being the oldest you learn to respect and not to take things for granted,” Laten said.

Senior Reagan Beims said Laten has been her best friend since second grade and thinks of her as a sister.

“She doesn’t let people run her or force her to change to fit their group. She is strong-willed and so creative. I can always count on her to have my back, too,” said Beims.

Emileigh Dinkel said, “She is really funny, and she always laughs at herself when she does something,” Dinkel said. “There is never a dull moment.”
