The junior high Lady Indian volleyball teams lost all three matches played on Thursday, October 4, in St. Francis. The evening opened with the B team match. St. Francis was defeated by Hoxie in the contest 10-15, 20-25.

In A team action, St. Francis jumped out to an 18-13 lead in the first set and caused Hoxie to use a time-out to re-group. Kills by Jesslynn Houtman and Rian Zimbal accounted for points 23 and 24 for the Lady Indians. St. Francis won game one 25-15.

In set two, Hoxie earned a four-point lead (3-7) triggering a St. Francis time-out. Though the margin grew to 3-11, St. Francis eventually trimmed the gap to 10-15 before making several good plays to narrow the deficit even more. An over-pass tip by Houtman accounted for the Lady Indians 16th point. On the next volley, a good dig by Makaila Matthies resulted in a nice set by Zimbal leading to another Houtman kill (17-20). Two more kills by Houtman narrowed the margin to 19-21, and were followed by a Zimbal scoring tip. A Hoxie attack error tied the set at 21-all. Hoxie followed with back-to-back kills by 8th-grader Reagan Shaw to take a 21-23 advantage. A Hoxie passing error and two net violations placed the Lady Indians one point away from victory (24-23). Two St. Francis errors and another Shaw attack allowed Hoxie to escape with a 24-26 win.

In the deciding set, Hoxie earned a 5-10 advantage, but the Lady Indians tied the set at 11-all on a deep-tip by Rian Zimbal. St. Francis missed their next service attempt beginning a Hoxie four-point run that decided the match. Hoxie's Willow Washington earned a kill on the final play of the contest. St. Francis lost to Hoxie in a competitive match 11-15.

The evening concluded with the C team match. Hoxie won the first set 12-25. St. Francis rallied to win the second set 25-19. In the deciding set, Hoxie earned a 9-25 victory.
