Junior High Girls Win NWKL Championship
The Northwest Kansas League Junior High Volleyball Tournament was held at two different sites on Monday, October 15. The A team tournament was held in Hoxie, and the B team tournament was held in Atwood.
The St. Francis A team won the NWKL Championship winning five matches during the day's competition. In pool play, the Lady Indians went undefeated winning matches over Wallace County (22-25, 25-18, 15-7), Quinter (25-12, 25-15), and Hoxie (20-25, 25-20, 25-20). The 3-0 performance earned St. Francis the #1 seeding in bracket play where they matched up with the #2 from Pool A, Decatur Community. The Lady Indians defeated the Lady Red Devils 25-17, 25-18 to advanced to the championship contest. In the league championship match, the Lady Indians defeated Rawlins County in a very close contest, 25-23, 25-23. For complete A team tournament results, click this link.
The St. Francis B team won one match during pool play defeating Greeley County 25-13, 25-16. The B team lost their other two matches to Wallace County (12-25, 20-25), and Rawlins County (17-25, 14-25) and did not advance to bracket play. Rawlins County won the B team championship.
