Saint Francis Indians defeated Leoti
The high school varsity football team started out slow but then dominated Wichita County at Leoti on Friday, October 5. After neither team scored in the first quarter, the Indians got out ahead at halftime, 28-0. Then they finished out the cold and breezy night winning 44-6.
Shadryon Blanka, sophomore, said they played well for the most part. “The first quarter was not the best, but once we got going we cleaned house,” said Blanka.
Jesse Baxter, sophomore, who suffered a concussion at the end of third quarter, could not recall much about the game. “The only real memory I have is putting my pads on before the game, the rest is bits and pieces,” Baxter said.
Wyatt Hilt, senior, who went in for Baxter after he was hurt, said it was a fun experience playing. “It was scary at first but once I got the hang of it, it was so much fun.”
The Indians next game is on October 12 against the Trego Golden Eagles at Wakeeney.
