JH girls win three
The sound of girls running up and down the court fills the room, the smell of popcorn is in the air, and fans are cheering everywhere as the junior high Lady Indians play against Dighton on Thursday night.
Molly Gilliland, eighth grader, said “I think our team has improved because at the beginning of the the season, some of the girls had never played or watched basketball before. Now, every one of them love basketball, work hard, and are always competitive.”
The night started off with A-Team defeating the Hornets 26-23. This game was a nail-biter throughout the whole game. By half-time the score was 10-11, Dighton winning. Although we were losing at half, the girls fought hard and won by the end.
All of the girls on this team work hard and love the game.
Ellee Krien, eighth grader, said “Basketball is my favorite sport.”
The girls all work together well.
“We were working together more and we developed skills to improve,” said Jesslynn Houtman.
The next game played was the B-Team. These girls fought hard throughout the whole game and never let their lead get into their heads. The score at half-time was 14-6, Indians ahead. By the end, the Lady Indians won, 29-16.
To round out the night, C-Team finished with an awesome win. These girls fought hard for one six-minute quarter. The ending score was 15-8, St. Francis won.
All of these girls fought tough and ended the night with three wins out of three games. If you were at the game Thursday night you can tell that these girls are going to have a great season.
