Quinter Defeats Junior High Boys

On Monday, November 19, the junior high boys basketball teams traveled to Quinter for competition. The teams played hard, but did not earn a win during the evening. The A-team Indians lost a close game to the Bulldogs 23-26. The B-team was defeated by Quinter 8-39. The C-team lost a one quarter-only contest 0-14.

In the A-team contest, St. Francis led 8-6 after one quarter of action after receiving three baskets by Ben Busse and one from Colton Raile. The Indians were out-scored by Quinter in the second period 8-11 and trailed 16-18 at halftime. Neither team had much success offensively in the third period as both teams only scored three points each. The Indians fared a bit better in the final stanza earning 4 points, but the Bulldogs added 6 to win 23-26.

Scoring for St. Francis in the A-team game were Ben Busse 11, Colton Raile 6, and Preston Witzel 5. The Indians made 4 of 7 from the line and committed 12 fouls.

Quinter was led in scoring by T. Kinderknecht with 8 points. E. Gruenbacher and B. Polifka each added 6. The Bulldogs made 5 of 8 from the stripe and had 12 fouls.

In the B-team game, Quinter jumped out to a 3-10 lead after one period of play. The only basket the Indians received in the first period was a trey by Connor Wachsman. St. Francis made but one free-throw in the second period, and the margin increased to 4-22 by halftime. Wachsman scored a basket for the Indians in the third period, but the deficit continued to grow. St. Francis trailed 6-31 at the 3rd-quarter break, and lost 8-39.

Scoring for St. Francis in the B-team game were Connor Wachsman 5, Shane Todd, 1, Jordan Smull 1, and Asher Robbins 1. Quinter was led in scoring by B. Bogart with 12 and A. Briggs with 10.

The Indians will play Cheylin, at Cheylin, on Tuesday, November 27.
