Regional Wrestling February 15 & 16
The Regional Wrestling Tournament will be held in WaKeeney on Friday, February 15, and Saturday, February 16, at Trego Community High School. The Indians will be competing with wrestlers from 21 other schools at the tournament. Wrestlers who place in the top four positions in their respective weight class at the Regional Tournament will qualify for state competition in Hays on Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23. The State Tournament will be held at Gross Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays.
Teams competing in the WaKeeny Regional are: Atwood-Rawlins County HS, Brewster HS, Cimarron HS, Colby HS, Ellis HS, Goodland HS, Hays-Thomas More Prep-Marian HS, Hill City HS, Holcomb HS, Hoxie HS, Lakin HS, Leoti-Wichita County HS, Montezuma-South Gray HS, Norton Community HS, Oakley HS, Oberlin-Decatur Community HS, Plainville HS, Quinter HS, St. Francis HS, Sublette HS, Tribune-Greeley County HS, and WaKeeney-Trego Community HS.

SESSION I
Round 1 - First Round Friday at 2:00 p.m.
Round 2 - Championship Quarterfinals
Round 3 - Consolation First Round
Round 4 - Championship Semifinals
SESSION II
Round 5 - Consolation Cross Bracketing Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
Round 6 - Consolation Quarterfinal
Round 7 - Consolation Semifinal
Round 8 - Consolation Finals (two mats)
Round 9 - Championship Finals (one mat)
Seeding Criteria
The following criteria will be used to seed wrestlers for the tournaments.
1. Head to head competition (If two wrestlers have evenly split wins during the season, the wrestler who won the last match will be given the seed.)
2. Record against common opponents
3. Returning state champion from the previous year
4. Returning state placer from the previous year
5. Returning regional champion or runner-up at the same weight from the previous year
6. Overall record in the weight class wrestling at regionals
Forfeits: Include dual match forfeits in record for seeding.
Records: Contestants with losing records should not be seeded, unless they meet other criteria.
The number of contestants who are seeded may vary from one weight class to the next, but every effort should be made to treat like situations in a uniform manner. Other unseeded wrestlers in the weight class are then drawn at random to fill the vacant spots in the brackets.
Admission to the Regional Tournament for Saturday is $6 for adults and $5 for students. Saturday's admission is $8 for adults and $7 for students.
