Junior High Enjoys Scholars Bowl
On Wednesday, May 8, the junior high school students participated in a local Scholars Bowl activity. The Scholars Bowl activity took most of the afternoon and competition was excellent with many difficult questions proposed to the students.
The students in grades 6-8 were divided into teams consisting of 4 or 5 students. The teams competed through several rounds of competition in pool play and then the top teams in each pool advanced to the elimination bracket for the finals. Students answered questions from many different areas of knowledge throughout the activity.
The top three teams from the competition received medals sponsored by the Goodland Elks Lodge. Winning the Scholars Bowl championship was a team comprised of Connor Wachsman, Ian Taylor, Jesslynn Houtman, Francisco Palasio, and Mahra Padgett. Placing second was the team of Ben Busse, Deija Kabureck, Zoe Hankins, and Asher Robbins. Third place winners were Rian Zimbal, Janae Moberly, Colton Raile, Kike Yanez, and Kaylee Moberly.
Everyone seemed to enjoyed the spirited competition.
