SFCHS Qualifies 19 For State Track

The St. Francis High School Track teams gave a strong performance in a competitive 1A Regional Track Meet in Hill City on Thursday, May 16. The Indians placed third as a team in the meet. Those placing in the top four positions in each event qualified for the State Track and Field Meet to be held at Cessna Stadium in Wichita on Friday and Saturday, May 24 & 25. St. Francis qualified nineteen student/athletes for state competition.

Indians advancing to the state meet (with alternates) include Cody Baxter, Shadryon Blanka, Gregor Burr, Brady Dinkel, Connor Keller, Adam Krien, K.C. Krien, Isaiah Lee, Colton Neitzel, Jayce Nider, Tiernan Poling, Bryce Raby, and Jordan Raby.  Lady Indians advancing (with alternates) include Emma Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Mia Morrow, Kattie Wurm, and Hannah Zimbal.

St. Francis had one Regional champion. Brady Dinkel won the mens 200 meter dash in a time of 23.11.

Boys Division

Almena-Northern Valley won the mens division of the Regional Track Meet totaling 88 team points. Osborne was second with 75 and St. Francis third with 68 team points. The remainder of the competing teams finished in the following order:  4th - Hill City 54, 5th - Wallace County 38, 6th - LaCrosse 31, 7th - Brewster 26, 8th - Kensington-Thunder Ridge 24, 9th - Sylvan-Lucas United 20, 10th - Dighton 19, 11th (tie) - Weskan 16, 11th (tie) -Quinter 16, 13th - Cheylin 14, 14th - Otis-Bison 13, 15th - Winona-Triplains 11, 16th (tie) - Greeley County 10, 16th (tie) - Rexford-Golden Plains 10, 18th - Logan 9, 19th -Claflin-Central Plains 7, 20th - Grainfield-Wheatland 8, 21st - Victoria 2, and 22nd - Ransom-Western Plains 1. Chase, Healy, Natoma, Palco, Rawlins County, Stockton, and Wilson did not score in the meet. 

Indians placing in the Regional Track Meet are listed below.

Cody Baxter - 2nd in 300 meter hurdles (42.12), 4th in 110 meter hurdles (17.28)

Shadryon Blanka - 2nd in triple jump (41' 1.25") 

Brady Dinkel - 1st in 200 meters (23.11)

Isaiah Lee - 5th in long jump (20' 0.75")

Jayce Nider - 4th in 400 meters (54.03)

Tiernan Poling - 5th in pole vault (11' 6")

Jordan Raby - 2nd in 400 meters (52.56)

4 X 100 meter relay - 2nd (45.14) - Cody Baxter, Brady Dinkel, Jordan Raby, and Shadryon Blanka

4 X 400 meter relay - 2nd (3:35.30) - Jordan Raby, Brady Dinkel, Cody Baxter, and Jayce Nider

4 X 800 meter relay - 2nd (8:55.69) - K.C. Krien, Bryce Raby, Brady Dinkel, and Jordan Raby

Womens Division

Wallace County won the womens division of the Regional Meet accumulating 74 team points. Rawlins County placed second with 57 points. Rexford-Golden Plains was a very close third with 56 team points. The rest of the field finished in the following order:  4th - Kensington-Thunder Ridge 48, 5th (tie)- Almena-Northern Valley 42, 5th (tie) - Osborne 42, 7th - Hill City 29.5, 8th - Wilson 26, 9th - Grainfield-Wheatland 23, 10th - Natoma 22, 11th (tie) - Quinter 20, 11th (tie) - Victoria 20, 13th - Dighton - 19, 14th - Weskan 15, 15th - Claflin-Central Plains 11, 16th (tie) - St. Francis 8, 16th - (tie) Sylvan-Lucas Unified 8, 18th (tie) - Winona-Triplains 6, 18th (tie) - Cheylin 6, 18th (tie) - Stockton 6, 18th (tie) - Chase 8, 22nd (tie) - Greeley County 5, 22nd (tie) - Otis-Bison 4.5, 24th (tie) - Logan 2, and 24th (tie) - Logan 2. Healy, Palco, Western Plains, and Wilson did not score in the meet.

Jessica Confer - 7th in discus (97' 1")

Hannah Zimbal - 4th in 400 meters (1:02.83)

4 X 100 meter relay - 4th (53.74) - Mia Morrow, Emma Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, and Hannah Zimbal
