First points allowed for the season

Preparing for the first home game was different for some players. Thursday night for two hours Jayce Nider, Shannon Rethke and Ben Busse painted the SF logo on Greene Field with Coach Nick Fawcett. The job took too long to finish that night so Neitzel came in the next morning for finishing touches with more paint.

“I came up with the idea and asked Colton (Neitzel) because I knew he’d get the job done,” Fawcett said.

Neitzel said painting the logo was received well by the community.

“Everybody around town was complimenting how it looked,” Neitzel said.

Friday night the Saint Francis Indians played the Oberlin Red Devils.

The Indians beat the Red Devils 48-2, giving up their first 2 points of the season when Senior Brady Dinkel tripped over his feet as he tried to pass to Junior Shadryon Blanka, who was tackled in the endzone for a safety, gifting the Red Devils their only two points of the game.

“It was fun to play a highly regarded team,” Coach Fawcett said. “And our boys rose to the occasion, and I look forward to seeing them improve”.

Josiah Sims, junior, scored four points through two two-point conversions.

“I feel like we can improve our passing game in general and our execution,” Sims said.

The Indians will take on Hoxie at Hoxie Friday night at 7 p.m.
