Senior Night, Military Appreciation Night ends with a 7-0 record

The high school football team remains unbeaten after defeating WaKeeney-Trego 60-12 to end the game early at the start of the third quarter. 

They are inching closer and closer to claim the district title and league title. 

The Indians started the game on defense but got the ball back after a quick three and out. In the Indians’ first possession of offense, they scored. Junior Shadryon Blanka scored on a run to put the Indians up quick. 

The Indians gave up two touchdowns in the second quarter but made up for it easily on the offensive side of the ball and controlled the game all the way through. 

Blanka said that it was a good team win and thanked the veterans. 

“Our team played well,” Blanka said. “If we play with execution then we are a tough team to beat. I want to say thank you to the veterans that came down to the sidelines.”

This game honored military with an appreciation night, where military veterans and currently enlisted got into the game for free and stood on the sideline of the game during the national anthem.

Junior Colton Neitzel also wanted to say thank you to all the veterans that served our country. 

“It was an inspiring story listening to Pete Jensen talk about his experience in Vietnam,” Neitzel said. “Thank you to all the veterans that stood by us for the national anthem, it was an honor.” 

Senior Jaron Berig was also recognized for senior night and thanked the veterans. 

“The game outcome went as expected besides the two scores on the opposing team,” Berig said. “Having a game dedicated to the veterans is a great way to show our appreciation towards them. Thank you for your service.”
