Junior High Volleyball Season Ends Successfully at League Tournament
The Junior High Volleyball girl's A and B-Team both had an eventful day full of matches on Monday. The Lady Indians had their league tournaments and competed well. A-Team traveled to Quinter and had a fun day full of volleyball.
"We had a lot of fun [Monday], especially when we won against Dighton in the last set," said Deija Kabureck, eighth grader.
The Lady Indians had a match against Oberlin first. The first set ended with a score of 12-25. In the second set, the girls improved and fought hard. The set ended with a score of 22-25, an unfortunate defeat.
Next, the girls played a talented Sharon Springs team. The first set ended with a score of 8-25 and the second set ended with a closer score of 15-25, the Indians once again fought hard but the match ended in defeat.
Last, the Indians finished their season with a hard fought victory against Dighton. The sets were 19-25, 25-20, and the final, nail-biting third set ended with a score of 15-6.
“We had lots of fun and really enjoyed playing volleyball,” said Kinley Havel, eighth grader.
The B-Team ended their season in a similar fashion. The girls traveled to Sharon Springs and lost their first match against Atwood 6-25 and a second set of 14-25.
Next the girls played Quinter. The match ended with scores of 17-25, and unfortunately lost after the second set with a close score of 22-25.
Last, the Indians defeated Oberlin in an impressive three set match. The first set ended with a score of 20-25, but the Indians made an awesome comeback with scores of 25-10 and 15-8 in the final two sets.
