Spooky, Scary Indians defeat Washington County to advance to the playoffs

Halloween is a time for costumes. Saint Francis High School football players traded costumes for their uniforms Thursday as they hosted Washington County for the bracket game. The Indians defeated their opponents who traveled four hours with a score of 46-0 by halftime.

Senior Brady Dinkel scored two touchdowns in the game --running one and catching one thrown by Junior Shadryon Blanka.

“I feel like we played great as a team and executed very well,” Dinkel said. “We came out strong and focused and played with lots of energy.”

Freshman Ben Busse said they were expecting a different game.

“We thought it would be a more challenging game against Washington, but we killed them,” he said.

Second year Indians Head Coach Nick Fawcett said he was glad all of the players got on the field during the game.

“Our starters played so well that the younger players got a lot of playing time, which was nice since they work so hard at practice,” he said.

Senior Jaron Berig made his first attempt at scoring points at the Yoke Bowl game against Atwood and did not quite make it, but at this game he had a two-point conversion and scored his first points for the team.

The Indians’ undefeated season continues to advance them Friday night for the Regional Championship game against Hill City at 7 p.m. on Greene Field.
