Junior High Boys Lose Close Games In Oberlin

The junior high boys basketball team traveled to Oberlin on Thursday, November 8, for their first competition of the season. The Indians were defeated by Decatur Community in both contests played. St. Francis lost the A-Team game 17-20. The B-Team lost 17-27.

St. Francis trailed at each of the quarter breaks in the A-Team contest. Cris Espino earned the only scores of the first period for St. Francis on two field goals. The Indians trailed 4-7 at the first quarter break. Espino added 4 more points in second period to keep the spread at three points until halftime (8-11). Decatur Community increased the deficit to four (11-15) in the third period. The Indians added 6 points, the most of any quarter in the game, during the final period; but lost 17-20.

Scoring for the Indians in the A-Team contest were:  Cris Espino 13, Asher Robbins 2, and Jordan Smull 2. Decatur Community was led by D. Jensen with 7 and L Zodrow with 6.

Information from the B-Team contest was not available.

The Indians will play Hoxie on Tuesday, November 12, in St. Francis. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
