Rawlins County Sweeps JH Girls

On Thursday, December 5, the junior high basketball teams from Rawlins County traveled to St. Francis for competition with the young Lady Indians. St. Francis played some improved basketball, but lost all games played. St. Francis lost the A team game 11-49. The B Team girls were defeated by a score of 2-30.

St. Francis earned 4 points in the first quarter of the A Team contest receiving a basket from Matilynn Smull and two free-throws from Maggie Hingst. It was not enough to keep pace with the more experienced Lady Buffaloes as Reece Smith (8th) tallied 12 points and Ashley Singhateh (8th) scored 8 for Rawlins County. In the second period, the Lady Indians failed to score while the Lady Buffs added 12 more to their total. The Lady Indians trailed 4-32 at halftime.

Maggie Hingst was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line in the the third period. The charity tosses were the only points the Lady Indians added to their total during the period. Rawlins County added 8 to their side of the scoreboard to lead 40-7 after three periods. Makaila Matthies chipped in two field goals for St. Francis in period four. The Lady Indians lost to Rawlins County 11-49.

Lady Indians scoring in the contest were Maggie Hingst 5, Makaila Matthies 4, and Mattilynn Smull 2. Rawlins County was led by Reece Smith with 15. Ashley Singheteh and Abby Micek (8th) each added 12. Tayten Dewey (7th) chipped in 6.

The Lady Indians will play Greeley County in Tribune on Thursday, December 12.
