Young Indians Win Championship at Quinter Invitational

The St. Francis Junior High boys track team won the championship of the Quinter Invitational Track and Field Meet on Friday, April 28th.  The meet was competed with one boys division and one girls division.  St. Francis scored 86.5 points win the fourteen team meet.  Wallace County scored 69 points to earn a second place finish.  Triplains was 3rd with 65.

The remainder of the competing teams finished in the following order:  4th Greeley County 53; 5th Oakley 44; 6th Hoxie 41; 7th Brewster 38; 8th Grinnell 26; 9th Northern Valley 21; 10th Quinter 18.5; 11th (tie) Golden Plains and Western Plains 12; 13th Heartland Christian 9; and 14th Healy 1.

Boys placing in the meet for St. Francis are listed below.

Carl Fabre:  3rd 100 meters 12.35; 3rd 200 meters 25.58; 3rd high jump 4' 10";

Garrett Brunk:  2nd pole vault 9' 6"; 3rd 100 meter hurdles 16.78

Clay Cassaw:  3rd pole vault 8' 0"; 5th 100 meter hurdles 18.38

Taylor Rogers:  5th (tie) high jump 4' 10"

Francisco Fernandez:  4th long jump 15' 1 1/2"; 5th (tie) high jump 4' 10"

Travis Rogers:  5th (tie) pole vault 7' 6"

Joel Hill:  6th triple jump 30' 6 3/4"

Jude Faulkender:  4th shot put 34' 5 1/4"; 5th discus 92' 4 1/2"

Chris Hoard:  2nd discus 103' 4"

4 X 100 meter relay:  (Garrett Brunk, Clay Cassaw, Francisco Fernandez; Lane Hobrock) 1st 52.32

4 X 200 meter relay:  (Quinton Cravens, Taylor Rogers, Justin Pacheco, Taylor Rogers) 3rd 1:55.44

4 X 400 meter relay:  (Garrett Brunk, Clay Cassaw, Francisco Fernandez, Lane Hobrock 1st 4:16.52

The St. Francis Lady Indians placed 5th in the meet with 56 points.  Dighton ran away with the team championship with 120 points.  Grinnell placed second with 68 points, Golden Plains earned 3rd with 61, and Northern Valley was fourth with 60.

The other girls teams finished in the following order:  6th Quinter 33, 7th Western Plains 21, 8th Wallace County 20, 9th Oakley 16, 10th Hoxie 15, 11th Greeley County 9, 12th Triplains 8, and 13th Brewster 1.

Girls placing in the meet for St. Francis are listed below.

McKenzie Taylor:  1st 100 meters 13.62; 1st 200 meters 28.06; 2nd 100 meter hurdles 16.89

Kylie Sherlock:  4th 400 meters 1:10.27

Emily Elfers:  4th 100 meter hurdles 18.47

Journey Lee:  2nd pole vault 7' 0"

4 X 100 meter relay:  (CarolEve Harris, Emily Elfers, Kylie Sherlock, McKenzie Taylor) 2nd 57.28

4 X 200 meter relay:  (Emily Elfers, CarolEve Harris, Kayla Reed, Kylie Sherlock)  5th 2:07.29

4X 400 meter relay:  (Emily Elfers, Journey Lee, Kayla Reed, Kylie Sherlock) 4th 5:01.59

The teams will be competing in St. Francis on Thursday, May 3rd.
