Saint Francis stops Hoxie in Friday night football game

St. Francis ranked number two in the state held off Hoxie for the tenth year in a row in a thriller Friday night, 30-28.  Sainty went into the game with lots of confidence.

Junior, Colton Nietzel, said, “When I was in there it was good, but we didn’t execute as planned.”

The game was close the whole time. However, after Sainty lost Colten Nietzel to a concussion, they went down a touchdown after being up by two touchdowns.

Kobe Tice, junior said, “When we went down I was thinking to myself that if we lose it is going to be a long ride home.”

Tice scored the go ahead touchdown in the third quarter.

Junior Shadron Blanka, the leading tackler on the team, said, “We just did what we had to do to win the game.”

Four Sainty touchdowns in total during the game were called back, and Hoxie had five opportunities within the five yard line to score in the last minute, but the Indians’ defensive line wouldn’t let them score.

Saint Francis 5-0 will play another 5-0 team Leoti/Wichita County on Friday at Greene Field at 7 p.m.
