Indians Defeat Ringnecks

“We fought hard and opened up pheasant season one night early,” said Shadryon Blanka, junior.

The Indian football team had another successful night last Friday, earning a victory against the Hill City Ringnecks in the Regional Championship game. The game was predicted to be a closer one than the Indians typically have had, but it ended with a score of 52-0, another impressive victory. The game ended at half due to the 45-point rule.

“They thought they were going to beat us but we sent them home at half,” said Adam Krien, junior. “It was a really satisfying win, knowing that we proved them wrong when they came to the game overly confident.”

Head Coach Nick Fawcett echoed Krien’s enthusiasm.

“It was an exciting game to coach,” Fawcett said. “The boys always work hard and that makes my job so much more fun. We thought Hill City would be a real challenge but the boys executed their plays almost perfectly and kept their momentum from the get-go.”

The Indians will now advance to the Sectional Championship and play Jetmore-Hodgeman County at Jetmore High School. The Indians will be playing the Hodgeman County Longhorns who have a season record of 9-1. The team is ranked eighth in Kansas according to MaxPreps.com.

“I think we will be successful in our future because we always play our best and try to execute every play,” said Colton Neitzel, junior.

The Indian Football team now has a season record of 10-0. The Indians are ranked first in Kansas in eight man football on MaxPreps.com.
