Junior High Girls Lose to Wallace County

On Thursday, November 14, the St. Francis Junior High Lady Indians competed in basketball against the Wallace County Lady Wildcats. The Lady Indians were defeated by the Lady Wildcats by a score of 7-45 in the A-Team contest held in the St. Francis High School Gym. The B-Team also lost to Wallace County 4-54 in a game played at the Grade School.

Wallace County jumped out to a 0-20 lead after one quarter of play. The Wildcats received 6 points from Jaelyn Dailey (7th) and JaAsia Stafford (8th) as well as 4 from Ellie Goodwin (8th) and 2 from Jyma Stafford (7th) in the period. The Lady Indians got on the scoreboard in the second period when Maggie Hingst made at three-point basket. The Lady Wildcats added 12 more in the second period to lead 3-32 at halftime.

Kierra Penka and Maggie Hingst each scored in the third period for the Lady Indians. St. Francis trailed 7-40 after three quarters of play. Using a running clock in the final quarter, Wallace County added 5 more points to their total. The Lady Indians did not score. St. Francis was defeated by Wallace County 7-45.

Wallace County was led in scoring by JaAsia Stafford with 10 points. Ellie Goodwin added 9. Jaelyn Daily and KyLynn Miller each added 6.

Lady Indians scoring in the contest were:  Maggie Hingst (5) and Kierra Penka (2).

The Lady Indians will play Dighton, in Dighton, on Thursday, November 21.
