Senior works hard as his high school career winds down

By Jordyn Faulkender

Senior year is always a tough year. Saying goodbye to your childhood and starting the next chapter of your life. Jesse Baxter, 12, has been involved in school activities for all four years in high school and the two years in junior high. Baxter has gone out for football and basketball for all of his high school years and track for all of the years he was able to. Baxter has also been involved in FFA for four years.

Baxter has not only been staying active in school, but outside of school he has been just as busy. This student has been in 4-H for about 10 years. He also works for Brock McAtee C&C. He works all summer and is doing the co-op program this year. After graduation Baxter plans on attending the Tulsa welding school to pursue his welding career.

Over the years, classmates grow very close. When you go through everything together, it is hard not to become great friends with your peers. Baxter has grown very fond of some of his and they feel the same towards him.

“I have been friends with Jesse for as long as I can remember,” said Adam Krien, 12. “We would play everyday on the swings in kindergarten. He is super funny and can always lighten the mood in any situation. Jesse is the type of person to do anything for you. He has been a great friend growing up by making everything a little more fun.”

Baxter has definitely made an impact in SFCHS with his outgoing personality. Not only has he been able to make friendships with his own classmates, but he has also made great friendships with some underclassmen.

“My favorite character trait of Jesse’s is his funny personality,” said Ben Busse, 10.

One of Jesse’s favorite things about high school was being able to help bring the football team up. Baxter said that one of his biggest role models was Scott Carmichael, assistant football coach.

“Jesse is by far one of the hardest working kids I have ever coached,” said Carmichael. “His work ethic is just exceptional!”
