Kobe Tice senior feature

By Ellee Krien

If you’re ever wondering where Kobe Tice is, you will most likely find him somewhere outdoors, hunting with friends, or family.

“Kobe is a great hunter,” said Garin Cooper, senior. “I don't understand much about hunting, but I can tell he is very passionate about it.”

Tice is fond of hunting deer with his bow and arrow, in his free time. After school, on the weekends, snow-days, he is out-and-about looking for deer. Deer are not the only animals he hunts, but they are his favorite.

“I got my first buck when I was 12,” said Tice. “And it was with a bow. It made me feel very stoked, since I had missed many bucks before I finally had success on the one I got.”

Besides hunting, Tice is also a hard-working student. Tice plans to further his academic education at Fort Hays State University, in Hays, Kansas. He intends to major in Agriculture Business. After Tice completes his four years at FHSU, he plans to go to Salina, KS, to get his pilot license.

Although Tice is thrilled about being a senior, and is ready for college, he feels ‘weird’ about leaving his childhood best friends next year, and his peers feel the same way.

“Kobe and I have been friends for a very long time,” said Adam Krien, senior. “We would play at recess together every single day in grade school. As we grew older we both really liked to hunt and would go on hunts together. This year when we went dove hunting we would limit out on almost every hunt. Kobe is hardworking and very dedicated so there is no doubt he will do great with whatever he chooses. I hope we can still hunt together when we come home from college.”

Another activity that Tice loves to do, outside of school, is football. Some of Tice’s biggest accomplishments have been his achievements in his football career. Tice has won many championships in football since junior high. The 2019 and 2020 season took them to state football, coming out state-runner up of tough-fought games.

“Making it to state football was a great accomplishment, even though it did not end how we wanted it to,” said Tice.

Tice is a cornerback and linebacker on defense, and a tight end on offense. He contributes greatly to the team and is an overall good player.

“Kobe is a great friend and it has been really fun to play with him this year,” said Ben Busse, sophomore. “My favorite memory of playing football with him was when I threw my first touchdown pass to him in the Brewster game.”
