Seventh Graders Tour Archway Monument

Seventh grades pose for class photo at Archway Museum.

The seventh grade students took a field trip to Kearney, NE, on Friday, November 22 to tour the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument.  They took a headphone tour of the display, and they were treated to a reinactment by an Indian woman, a session on Indian sign language, and a lesson on making a corncob doll.

After the sessions the students ate a meal of buffalo stew and cornbread.  After a visit to the gift shop the students boarded the bus for the trip home.  The Archway is a great symbol of the pioneer spirit and the Oregon Trail, which is studied in Kansas History.  It was a fun, informative trip.
