Mr. Carmichael displays the Governor's Award

2007 Standard of Excellence Awards

St. Francis Community Schools in Top 5% in State

In January of 2002, the federal government put into law the No Child Left Behind Act.  Basically what this law says is that states are responsible to get every child within their educational system to a certain academic performance level in reading and math by the year 2014.

Kansas responded to the federal mandate by developing standardized tests to administer to Kansas students once a year in grades 3-8 and once in high school, in order to measure student performance levels.  Depending on how well students perform on the tests, they are classified into one of five categories: 1) ACADEMIC WARNING; 2) APPROACHES STANDARD; 3) MEETS STANDARD; 4) EXCEEDS STANDARD; AND 5) EXEMPLARY.
