Volleyball Teams Participate in Two Tournaments

The Lady Indian Volleyball teams participated in two tournaments on Saturday, September 13th. The varsity team competed in the Gove County Classic and the junior varsity team participated in the the Wichita County JV Tournament.
The Gove County Classic was a ten team pool play/bracket tournament held at two sites. Pool A played at Wheatland High School while Pool B played at Grinnell High School. The teams advanced to bracket play depending upon the results of the pool matches. The St. Francis Lady Indians were in Pool A and competed in pool play at Wheatland High School. Other teams in the pool were: Wheatland/Grinnell, Weskan, Quinter, and Western Plains. Pool B teams were: Decatur County, Hoxie, Trego Community, Wallace County, and Deerfield.

Jami gets ready to serveIn lower bracket play, Trego defeated Quinter 25-15, 25-12; Wallace County defeated St. Francis 25-17, 25-27; Quinter defeated St. Francis 25-16, 24-26 for (seventh) place; Wallace County defeated Trego 25-21, 25-22 (for fifth place).
In upper bracket play, Decatur County defeated Wheatland/Grinnell 25-20, 25-20; Weskan defeated Hoxie 25-21, 25-16; Wheatland/Grinnell defeated Hoxie 25-19, 25-22 for third place. Weskan defeated Decatur County 25-14, 25-19 for the tournament championship.

Coach O. instructs the team during a time outThe Lady Indian junior varsity team traveled to Leoti to compete in the Wichita County JV Tournament on Saturday. This was six team pool play/bracket tournament. Results of matches involving the Lady Indians were: St. Francis defeated Sublette 25-14, 25-16; St. Francis defeated Heartland Christian 22-25, 25-11, 25-11; Garden City defeated St. Francis 25-19, 25-14; St. Francis was defeated by Sublette 25-19, 25-15 in the third place match.
