Indians Defeat Decatur County in Bi-District
The St. Francis Indians easily defeated the Decatur County Red Devils on Tuesday, November 3, to win the Bi-District football championship. The game was held on Greene Field in St. Francis.
The outcome of the game was never in doubt as the Indians scored five touchdowns and led by 36 points before the Red Devils reached paydirt. Trent Raile scored the Indians first touchdown on a 4 yard run at the 6:12 mark of the first quarter. The conversion attempt was not good. Terrence Lamb scored with 1:53 left in the first on a 5 yard run followed by a Trent Raile conversion. St. Francis led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
With four seconds gone in the second quarter, Trent Raile scored his second TD of the evening on a 5 yard run. Matt Raile ran for the conversion points. Lamb then scored his second touchdown of the game on a 7 yard run with 4:27 left in the half. The conversion failed. The Indians held a 28-0 halftime lead.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. With fifty seconds gone in the 4th quarter, Matt Raile connected with Garrett Figgins for a 26 yard touchdown pass. Trent Raile ran for the conversion points.
Oberlin scored their first touchdown of the game with 9:42 on the clock in the fourth quarter on a 50 yard pass play (conversion failed). St. Francis' Cody Sherlock scored on the the next Indian possession on a 14 yard run with 4:12 remaining in the game. Tye Zweygardt ran for the conversion points. On the final play of the game, Decatur County scored again on a 14 yard pass play (conversion no good). The Indians won the Bi-District championship by a 44-12 score.
The Indians will now play Meade on Saturday in the Regional game. The game will be played in Meade. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
