Plyometrics Classes Lift For Public Viewing
The St. Francis High School plyometrics classes held a weight lifting exhibition on Thursday evening, March 8th. Students were tested for maximum lifts during the week and some of the lifts took place during the public lift in the St. Francis High School Gymnasium.
The open lifting demonstration gave the community an opportunity to see the progress the students make in the weightroom as well as for the students to demonstrate their abilities to the community. For safety, the lifters were spotted during the lifts by Plyometrics instructor Nathan Smith and Assistant Track/Wrestling Coach Kyle Buffington. Thirty-one students participated in the lifting exhibition. Students were tested in the bench press, squat, and power clean lifts. The top lifters (boys and girls divisions) during the evening were:
Bench Press: Sam Reed 285 pounds and Sydney Sundstrom 90 pounds
Squat: Mikey Leibbrandt 420 pounds; Scott Warren 410 pounds, and Laura Brunk 220 pounds
Power Clean: Thomas Douthit 220 pounds and Sydney Sundstrom 80 pounds.
Below are a four video clips of the the squat lifts. The first one is of Wyatt Landenberger squatting 315 pounds.
The next video clip shows Cade Bracelin squatting 335 pounds.
The next clip is of Scott Warren squatting 410 pounds.
The last clip is of Mikey Leibbrandt squatting 420 pounds.
