Summer Basketball Camp To Be Held in St. Francis
The Indian boys and girls basketball programs would like to announce an exciting opportunity for students entering 7th – 12th grade next year. The Midwest Elite Basketball organization has accepted our invitation to put on a 3 day camp in St. Francis this summer. The camp will run from May 31st to June 2nd, with 5 hours of basketball instruction each day. The boys and girls camps will be run separately, but both will be at the high school with one in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening.
Midwest Elite is a collection of college coaches from Division II & III schools and junior colleges throughout the Midwest that travel to high schools to teach the fundamentals of the game. It is a great opportunity to get instruction from experts without having to travel to Denver, Salina or Wichita. The coaches from Midwest Elite will work closely with coaches Beims and Dinkel to make sure that what is being taught is in line with their philosophies right here in St. Francis. We think it’s beneficial to players who spend months and years hearing us teach the same things over and over, to hear it from other coaches. Especially coaches of this caliber.
Midwest Elite takes pride in using court time to teach. If you’re looking for a camp to get autographs or T-shirts, this camp is probably not for you. You will learn the game from experts with years of experience, and come away with a better understanding of the game, and how you can become better at it. Each student will receive an individualized “Player Evaluation” notebook at the end of camp, as well as a video jump shot analysis included in the $120 price of the three day camp. For about $8/hour you’re getting some top notch on-court instruction from a knowledgeable coaching staff. Another benefit for those looking to possibly play at the next level is that, as you are learning from them, they are learning about you. These are coaches that are currently employed by colleges throughout the Midwest. As such, part of their job description is to scout talent for their teams. You are getting a level of exposure that you can’t get in very many places, and you never have to leave St. Francis.
