Students Recognized for Writing
The freshmen in Mrs. Gibson's English class have been working to improve their writing skills. They have entered several writing contests this year. One contest was "Kansas Letters about Literature".
The students were to choose an author, living or from the past, and explain why they enjoyed the author's book. The judging criteria included the writer's use of language skills, organization, grammar, and the writer's achievement in addressing the contest theme and the style and originality of expression. Two students, Isaac Schiltz and Tilyn Bell, were selected as semifinalists out of 54,000 national and state entries. (Their letters can be found below.)Congratulations, Tilyn and Isaac!
