JH Tracksters Open Season at Home Invitational
The junior high track team opened their 2009 season on their home facility when the 2009 St. Francis Junior High Invitational was held on April 21st. The track meet provided some stiff competition as ten teams participated in the meet. Participating teams included: Bethune, Brewster, Burlington, Dundy County/Stratton, Idalia, Decatur County, Oakley, Rawlins County, St. Francis, and Weskan.
Dundy County/Stratton proved to be the dominate team in the meet winning both the boys and girls divisions.
The local athletes performed well against some good competition. Four Sainty athletes won individual events. Derek Queen won the 7th boys 400m with a good time of 1:03.20.Dylan Wolaver won the 8th boys 100m hurdles with a 17.09 clocking. Katie Lambert won the 8th girls 1600m in 6:26.16. Mason Schiltz leaped 4'10" to win the 7th boys high jump.
Other St. Francis athletes placing in the top six places in the meet were: Dylan Wolaver--2nd-8B 200m (26.94); Mason Schiltz--2nd-7B pole vault (7'6"); Logan Lampe--2nd-7B 400m (1:04.94); Zach Gienger--2nd-8B shot (38' 5 1/2"); Logan Lampe--3rd-7B 100m (13.13); Aly Schlepp-4th-7G long jump (12' 9 1/2"); Taylor Archibald--4th-8G shot (26' 8"); Derek Queen--4th-7B 100m (13.19); Logan Lampe--4th-7B high jump (4' 8"); Wyatt Landenberger--5th-7B long jump (13' 6 1/2") and 5th-7B 200m (32.37); Dylan Peter--5th 8B shot (36' 6 1/2"); Casey Keller--6th-8B high jump (4' 8"); Thomas Douthit--6th-8B 200m (28.56); Clarice Neitzel--6th 8G triple jump (26' 7'); and Lane Hoffman--7B 1600m- 6:17.63.
Sainty relay team placing in the meet included: 8G 4 X 200m (Lambert, Harris, Brunk, Northrup)-2nd (2:14.22); 8B 4 X 100m (Douthit, O'Leary, Gienger, Wolaver)-4th (55.87); *G 4 X 100 (Brunk, Dunn, Mills, Neitzel)-4th (1:01.99); 7B 4 X 400m (Hoffman, Landenberger, Lampe, Queen)-5th (5:14.59); 8B 4 X 200m (Grant, Leibbrandt, Clark, McCormick)-4th (2:14.01); 7B 4 X 100m (Hoffman, Hart, Schiltz, Landenberger)--5th (1:00.76); and the 7B 4 X 200m (Hart, Butler, Lee, Cooper)-6th (2:15.47).
