Track Teams Compete Well in Own Invitational

The St. Francis Invitational Track and Field Meet was held on Tuesday, April 28, in less than ideal conditions. Athletes and meet workers braved a cold and windy day of competition. Eleven teams participated in the meet providing stiff competition for everyone. A few invited teams did not come.

Greeley County (Tribune) won the women's division of the meet. St. Francis placed 5th. Team scores for the women were as follows: 1st) Greeley County 107; 2nd) Oakley 83; 3rd) Weskan 64; 4th) Hoxie 58; 5th) St. Francis 53; 6th) Decatur County 48; 7th) Burlington 39; 8th) Cheylin 34; 9th) Rawlins County 30; 10th) Triplains 29; 11th) Wallace County 14.

Decatur County (Oberlin) won the men's division. St. Francis placed third. St. Francis, Burlington, and Decatur County competed in a close team race throughout the meet. Decatur County scored several unanswered points in the last three events to take the win. Final team scores for the men were: 1st) Decatur County 117; 2nd) Burlington 99; 3rd) St. Francis 97; 4th) Rawlins County 69; 5th) Wallace County 50; 6th) Oakley 46; 7th) Greeley County 28; 8th) Cheylin 23; 9th) Hoxie 15; 10th) Brewster 10; 11th) Weskan 4.
