Judging Teams Do Well in Contests

Team Prepares for State Contest

The FFA judging teams have been very busy lately.  They have participated in seven judging contests in the past four weeks.  The team has competed very well winning several contests.  Results of the contests are listed below:

March 28th--Curtis, NE:  The Senior Team (Grady Brunk, C.J. Douthit, Gavin Cooper, and Allison Grice) placed first.  C.J. was the 2nd high individual and Gavin was 3rd.

April 1st--Smith Center, KS:  The Senior Team (Grady Brunk and C.J. Douthit) placed 6th.  C.J. was the 4th highest individual.  The Greenhand Team (Gavin Cooper and Allison Grice) placed 5th.  Gavin was the 6th highest individual in the Greenhand division.

April 4th--Philllipsburg, KS:  The Senior Team (Grady Brunk, C.J. Douthit, Gavin Cooper, and Allison Grice) place 3rd.  C.J. was the 6th highest individual and Gavin was 8th.

April 13th--Oakley, KS:  Horse Judging--The Senior Team (Grady Brunk, C.J. Douthit, and Jami Pevler) placed 3rd.  C.J. was the highest individual.  The Greenhand Team (Gavin Cooper, Allison Grice, and Jenna Hill) placed 2nd with Gavin being the 3rd highest individual.  In Livestock Judging, the senior team placed 1st with C.J. ranking as the high individual and Grady placing 7th.  The Greenhand Team also placed 1st.  Allison was 3rd high individual, Gavin was 5th, and Jenna placed 10th.

April 21st--District Contest in Hays, KS: The Senior Team (Grady Brunk and C.J. Douthit) placed 3rd in reasons.  The Greenhand Team (Gavin Cooper and Allison Grice) placed 4th overall.

April 25th--Colby, KS:  The Senior Team again placed first.  C.J. was the 2nd high individual.  Gavin placed 3rd, Grady 7th, and Allison 9th individually.

April 27th--Norton, KS:  The Senior Team placed 3rd with Grady placing 3rd individually.

The State Judging Contest will be held on May 3-4-5 in Manhattan, KS.  C.J., Grady, Gavin, and Allison will be competing in horse judging on Sunday and livestock judging on Tuesday.  Good luck!
