Buffs Defeat Young Indians

September 25, 2009

The junior high football team played Rawlins County in Atwood on September 24. The game was played as an 8-man game due to the small number of players available for the Rawlins County team (10). RC defeated the Indians by a score of 12-24.

Rawlins County scored first with 5:57 remaining in the first quarter when they blocked a St. Francis punt then picked up the football and returned it for a touchdown. The conversion run was also good. St. Francis trailed 0-8.

St. Francis scored their first touchdown of the game in the second quarter on a 4th down play from the one foot line.  The ball was fumbled on the play, but Indian Kyler Zweygardt recovered the ball in the end zone for a St. Francis touchdown. The conversion try failed. The score at halftime was St. Francis 6 -- Rawlins County 8.

Rawlins County scored on the first play from scrimmage in the 3rd quarter on a 43 yard touchdown run. The conversion run was also good. The Buffaloes had a ten point advantage 6-16.
