Driver's License Laws Clarified

The St. Francis Police Department met with the freshmen class on Tuesday, January 5th, to clarify Kansas Driving Laws as they pertain to young drivers. Most of the discussion involved the various kinds of driving permits/licenses and the restrictions that apply to each type of license.

Four types of permits/licenses were discussed including the farm permit, instruction permit, restricted license, and full license. As of January 1, 2010, Kansas is using the Graduated Driver's License procedure for all licensing. Seat belt usage was also a point of discussion. All vehicle occupants ages 14-17 MUST wear a seat belt according to Kansas Law.

The police department distributed the following informational pamphlet to all students present. The pamphlet explains the various types of permits.
