Cheyenne County Spelling Bee--February 3rd
St. Elementary School will host the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, February 3rd. The contest will be held in the Elementary Gymnasium beginning at 1:30 PM. Students from Cheylin and St. Francis will be competing in the spelling bee. The county champion will then move on to compete in the State Spelling Bee at a later date. The spelling bee is being sponsored by the Great Bend Tribune. Bruce Swihart will serve as the announcer for the contest. Jan Busse, Kari Gilliland, and Scott Carmichael will serve as judges.
Three students from each grade from each school will be entered in the contest. Students competing the contest have been selected by classroom activities. Students representing St. Francis are: Fourth Grade--Zoe Sundstrum, Madison Tice, and Tate Busse (alternate Erika Ramos); Fifth Grade--Quinton Cravens, Makayla Rogers, and Joel Hill, (alternate Sophie White); Sixth Grade--Jude Faulkender, Austin Patton, and Jakob Church (alternate Hannah Wolff); Seventh Grade--McKayla Taylor, Jon Hoard, and Aby Fernandez; Eighth Grade--Erik Hart, Scott Warren, and Derek Queen.
The Spelling Bee is open to the public.
