Six Students Earn I Ratings at Festival

Twenty-nine students represented St. Francis at the Northwest Kansas League Junior High Music Festival held in Colby on Wednesday, February 10. "The students all performed well," said Debbie Fiala, band and vocal instructor.  "Our five vocal soloists all earned I ratings, and that reflected the time and work they put into preparing for the festival."

The vocal soloists earning I ratings were Mariah Beikman, Brianna Cooks, Randee Grover, Bailey Merklin, and Dallas Reed. Kyla Bandel also earned a I rating on her piano solo.

Other soloists performing at the festival were Hannah Rider - clarinet; Mariah Beikman - saxophone; Brianna Cooks - trombone; Mariah Beikman, Jacob Butler, Ashlee Orth, and Valerie Wurm - piano.

Other performances included five vocal ensembles, three percussion ensembles, and a woodwind trio. Students involved in these ensembles were Tristan Archer, Kyla Bandel, Mariah Beikman, Shakotah Blanka, Cade Bracelin, Jacob Butler, Brianna Cooks, Gaten Cooper, Nicky Easter, Aby Fernandez, Randee Grover, Jacy Hilt, Jon Hoard, Lane Hoffman, Echo Jones, Wyatt Landenberger, Tyler Lee, Bailey Merklin, Ashlee Orth, Derek Queen, Dallas Reed, Hannah Rider, Mason Schiltz, Aly Schlepp, Ian Schmid, McKayla Taylor, Justice Wiley, Valerie Wurm, and Kyler Zweygardt. All students were accompanied and directed by Mrs. Fiala.
