Four Individuals Win Gold at Oakley Invitational
Matt Raile, Garrett Figgins, Isaac Schiltz, and Sarah Trembly each won individual events in the Oakley Invitational Track and Field Meet on Friday, April 23rd. Matt Raile won three golds at the meet. Matt won the long jump with a leap of 19' 5". Matt also placed first in the 200 m with a 22.72 clocking. Narrowly defeating teammate Travis Raile in the 100m dash, Matt ran 11.58 to win the event. Garrett Figgins was a double winner earning gold in both boys hurdle races. Garrett won the 300m hurdles with a time of 42.59 seconds and also the 100m hurdles (15.81). Sarah Trembly won the girls discus throw with a mark of 100' 6 1/4". Isaac Schiltz won the boys pole vault, clearing a height of 11' 6".
Other St. Francis athletes placing in the eleven team meet were: Trent Raile--2nd in the boys 100m (11.59); Mikaela Grace--4th in the girls 100m hurdles (18.32), 3rd in the 300m hurdles (51.36); Jenna Hill--4th in the girls 200m (28.80), 5th in the 400m (1:07.21), and 5th in the 100m (14.03); Marvin Miller--6th in the boys 1600m run (5:21.29); Isaac Schiltz 3rd in the high jump (5' 8"); Alex Long--4th in the javelin throw (143' 4"); Kaitlin Figgins--6th in the girls shot put (31' 5"), 5th in the discus (81' 10 1/4"); Cody Killingsworth--4th in the boys pole vault (10' 0")
The boys 4 X 400m relay team placed 6th with a time of 3:58. The girls 4 X 100 team placed 6th (57.19) while the boys 4 X 100m team earned 2nd with a time of 44.99 seconds.
The Indians placed third in the team standings scoring 92 points. Oakley won the meet with 109 points. Quinter was 2nd with 101. The Lady Indians placed sixth in the meet with 32 points. Oakley also won the girls division with 136.5 points.
