Junior High Track Teams Fare Well in Quinter Invitational
Girls 2nd; Boys 4th; New School PV Record Set
The junior high track teams competed well in the fourteen team Quinter Junior High Invitational Track and Field Meet on Friday, April 29th. The girls team placed second and the boys team placed fourth.
The St. Francis girls scored 89 points to place second in the team standings. Hoxie won the meet with 93 points. Grinnell was third with 75 points.
St. Francis placed three girls in the 100 meter dash. Valerie Wurm took second place with at time of 14.80. McKenzie Taylor placed 4th at 14.99 and Echo Jones was 5th with 15.18. McKenzie Taylor won the 200 meter dash running 29.90. Kylie Sherlock earned 5th place in the 400 meters with a time of 1:13.36. McKenzie Taylor placed second in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.86. McKayla Taylor was fourth in the hurdles at 18.30.
The Lady Indians 4 X 400 meter relay team consisting of Valerie Wurm, Mariah Beikman, Echo Jones, and McKayla Taylor placed 2nd with a time of 56.83. The girls 4 X 400 meter relay team (Kylie Sherlock, Emily Elfers, Justice Wiley, and McKenzie Taylor) also placed second running 5:00.16.
In the girls field events, Dallas Reed placed second in the high jump at 4' 6". Justice Wiley placed fourth in the high jump clearing 4' 4". The Lady Indians placed three athletes in the pole vault. Dallas Reed won the event clearing 7' 10" to establish another new school record. Valerie Wurm placed 2nd (6' 6") and Kyla Bandel 5th (5' 6"). Echo Jones earned third place in the long jump with at leap of 13' 6.5". Valerie Wurm placed 5th in the long jump with 13' 4.5".
In the boys division, St. Francis placed fourth in the team standings scoring 42 points. Northern Valley won the meet easily out-distancing everyone with 139 points. Hoxie placed 2nd with 58 points. Quinter was third with 54.
On the track, Cade Bracelin was fifth in the 100 meter dash with at time of 13.86. Garrett Brunk was 6th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.90.
The boys 4 X 100 meter relay team of Garrett Brunk, Carl Fabre, Francisco Fernandez, and Lane Hobrock placed third with a time of 55.87.
In the field events, Cade Bracelin won the shot put with a heave of 43' 7 1/4" and placed 2nd in the the discus with at throw of 113' 2". The video below show Cade's 2nd best throw in the shot.
Kyler won the discus with a distance of 116' 1" and placed 4th in the shot with a 35' 1" distance. the video below shows Kyler's winning discus throw.
