JV Football Team Outscores Wray
The junior varsity football team defeated the Wray Eagles on Greene Field on Monday evening, September 26th. St. Francis jumped out to an early 12-0 lead, but the Eagles scored before halftime to cut the deficit to four points.
The first Indian touchdown came on a 57 yard run by Derek Queen early in the first period. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Mike Leibbrandt scored on a long 77 yard run later in the first period and the Indians held a 12-point lead. The 2-point conversion attempt failed.
Wray answered with a 16 yard touchdown pass and trapped the Indians for a 2-point safety in the second period to move the score to 12-8 at halftime.
Leibbrant scored again in the 3rd period on a 15 yard run. The Indians were out in front 18-8. No one would score in the remainder of the contest, allowing the Indians to earn a hard fought victory.
The junior varisty team will play Oakley in Oakley on Monday, October, 10.
