Wrestlers Have Good Weekend

Earn Championship of Dundy County Invitational

The St. Francis Indian wrestling team traveled to Hill City Friday, January 6th, to compete in the Hill City "Quad".  Five teams (Hill City, Osborne, Stockton, St. Francis, and Wakeeney) competed during the evening with most having incomplete squads. St. Francis would have been 4-0 against the other competing teams in dual action if dual team scores were kept. Individual records for the Indians during the evening are listed below.

113 - Casey Keller - 1-1

120 - Matt White - 1-2

126 - Matt Howell - 2-1

132 - Austin White - 3-0

145 - Eric Nelson - 1-3

152 - Dylan Wolaver - 3-0

160 - Derek Queen - 1-1

170 - Thomas Douthit - 3-0

182 - Zach Gienger - 1-1

220 - Paul Nelson - 1-1

285 - Shakotah Blanka - 1-1

On Saturday, January 7th, the team wrestled in the Dundy County Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Benkelman, Nebraska. St. Francis scored 252 points to earn 1st place in the tournament. The Indians had six champions. Five other Indians placed in the top three positions. Individual placings in the tournament are listed below.

132 - Austin White - 1st

138 - Mikey Leibbrandt - 1st

145 - Eric Nelson - 3rd

152 - Dylan Wolaver - 1st

160 - Derek Queen - 2nd

182 - Zach Gienger - 1st

220 - Paul Nelson - 2nd

285 - Shakotah Blanka -2nd

The wrestling team will compete in the Sterling Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 14th.
