More Students Earn Publication

Two-thirds of the eighth grade class and two present day freshmen's poems were recently selected to published in the Creative Communication Fall 2014 Poetry Anthology.

According to Editor Thomas K. Worthen this is an impressive number, and he congratulated the students on their high level of academic achievement. Creative Communication is dedicated to promoting the arts and has sponsored contests for over 20 years. Mrs. Holzwarth, language arts instructor commented, "I'm extremely proud of these students and their accomplishments!  Congratulations, students!"

As their eyes are watching me
Swiftly running by them like a slithering snake

As we are ahead, I’m feeling great
Longest second ever, we have to win
Last game of the year was a success

The Beach
by Jake Faulkender

I go there all the time mostly during the summer.
When there, I play catch on the sand and dive for
passes in the water.
I watch the water as it flows up on the sand.
I hear the sound of birds chirping loudly among the waves.
I have a great time there no matter when I go.
I am always sad to leave, but I know I'll be back next summer.
I love the beach more than anything in the world.
It's the best place I could be.

Escaping the World
by Hanna Bracelin

My favorite place isn’t too far away from the ordinary world
When life is too stressful, this is where I find myself
Playing with all my childhood toys is what I do here
I see slides, and all sorts of children’s toys
Laughter filling the air, along with no care in the world
I choose to be carefree and just play
Going back to my favorite place is in the near future
In my head is where I can escape the world and become a child again
