Jr. High Students Participate in Music Contest

Thirty-seven students represented St. Francis at the Northwest Kansas League Junior High Music Festival held at Colby Community College on Wednesday, February 11. All band and vocal students performed in small ensembles and several also presented vocal or instrumental solos.
 
Earning I ratings were Jessica Confer - Piano Solo and Trumpet Solo; April Fernandez, Taylor Kinzer, Echoe Lennox, Alex Queen, Jayden McGinnis, Audrey Meyer, and Christina Stafford - Vocal Solos; Girls Vocal Ensemble (Karly Bandel, Cassidy Busse, Jessica Confer, April Fernandez, Marlo Jensen, Taylor Kinzer, Jayden McGinnis, Audrey Meyer, Sierra Robbins, Christina Stafford, Shelby Wolff, Hannah Zimbal, EmmaLee Archuleta, Lindsey Johnson, Teagan Landenberger, Echoe Lennox, Taighe Weeter); Girls Vocal Trio (Audrey Meyer, Sierra Robbins, Hannah Zimbal); Percussion Ensemble #1 (Cassidy Busse, Zach Koger, Alex Queen, Shelby Wolff, Cody Baxter, Lauren Johnson, Dakota Morris); and the Trumpet/Percussion Ensemble (Jessica Confer, Taylor Kinzer, Brady Dinkel, Sierra Robbins, Karly Bandel, Audrey Meyer, Bryce Raby, Draven Houtman, Kaleb Hays, Aaron White).
 
Receiving II ratings were Hannah Zimbal - Piano Solo and Flute Solo; Isaiah Lee - Baritone Solo; Mason Schmid - Vocal Solo; Boys Vocal Ensemble (Brady Dinkel, Zach Koger, Isaiah Lee, Seth Mills, Alex Queen, Bryce Raby, Mason Schmid, Cameron Sulewski, Aaron White, Connor Keller, KC Krien, Kouper McQuigg, Jordan Raby); Percussion Trio (Marlo Jensen, Seth Mills, Cameron Sulewski); Woodwind Trio (Alondra Gomez, Christina Stafford, Perla Yanez); and Clarinet Trio (Mason Schmid, April Fernandez, Jayden McGinnis).
 
"I was very pleased with the performances of these Jr. High students," said Debbie Fiala, band and vocal instructor.  "Their excellent ratings reflect the time and work they put into preparing for the festival."
