ST. FRANCIS, KAN. - The Saint Francis junior high football team scored an impressive win at home, 62-28, Thursday, September 1 against the Quinter Bulldogs.

The Indians scored two touchdowns, plus a two-point conversion in the first quarter. In the second quarter Shadryon Blanka, Saint Francis eighth grader, ran for an impressive touchdown.

Nicholas O’Loughlin, Saint Francis head junior high football coach, said the team performed well “against a team that size.”

“We threw, ran and kicked the ball great this evening and we had some great tackles,” O’Loughlin said.

Brady Dinkel, Saint Francis freshmen, said “the team looks good this year they have a solid defense and a strong offense. When I see them on the field they are usually working hard. The [Bulldogs]  were an easily removeable road block and they didn't have a chance against our guys.”

Dinkel said the best play of the game was when Adam ran for the touchdown in fourth quarter.

“Seeing how hard they work encourages me to work harder,” Dinkel said. “They are awesome and I have high expectations for them.”

Elijah Mills, Saint Francis seventh grader, said he knew his team would win the game. He said he would have loved to have gotten into the game a little more, but was thankful for the fifth quarter.

“I performed great and the team performed well throughout the entire game,” Mills said.

If you want to see the Saint Francis junior high football team in action, their next game is September 8 against Greeley County at Saint Francis High School at 4:30 p.m.
