Behind the Scenes

The students at Saint Francis Community High School have already been busy for the year. From prom fundraisers, to looking back on their favorite part of the year, from studying Shakespeare, to having handed down the Cajun Boil fundraiser, all of the students have something to share of how class events have switched up the year.

Senior year can be stressful. As they look forward to their bright and bold futures, they take time to look back on the memories that they had in high school. Also, they look forward to making more memories with their friends here at Saint Francis High School.

Makayla Rogers, Saint Francis senior, said, “The most stressful part of having class events is making sure I get all the correct information in time before the event starts. I mean like a lot of the time our plans to have a class meeting or class get-together get messed up due to other conflicts. Most of the time, the word for new timing and new meeting places doesn't get around to the whole class, so it's confusing as to where we want to meet up with each other.”

Keanu Bussell, Saint Francis senior, said, “I enjoy getting together and just having a good time, knowing we only have these few moments of school.”

“My favorite class event as a senior, so far, has probably been homecoming and being a candidate. I had so much fun that week it wasn't even funny,” said Rogers.

“These are the last football games, last first day of school, these are special because they make you realize you won’t see these younger kids again. It’s exciting and sad at the same time,” said Bussell.

“My most favorite part of the year is homecoming and participating in FFA. I like homecoming so much because we really come together as a school during this time. I like FFA events because they make you think deeply and it's really fun to take trips with everyone on the team,” said Rogers.

The junior class of 2018 has held fundraisers for prom and their senior trip. They started with a lemonade stand this summer. Once the school year began, the class sold magazines, worked the concessions stand, and held a hog sale.

As for the sophomore class of 2019, they were handed down the Cajun Boil this year. Usually the junior or senior class gets the Cajun Boil fundraiser, but this year was a little bit different.

“Having the Cajun Boil this year was amazing! It will be great to have a lot of donation money for our prom next year and senior trip. I am looking forward to prom. I love making new memories with my friends and family,” said Shelby Wolff, Saint Francis sophomore.

Also, some sophomores have been looking forward to prom and just getting together with the class.

“I’m looking forward to have a our class grow closer together,” said April Fernandez, Saint Francis sophomore.

The freshmen class of 2020 have been studying Shakespeare. “Reading Romeo and Juliet in English is kinda interesting,” said Jaron Berig, Saint Francis freshman.

Berig said he is looking forward to the Washington D.C. trip this summer. “Because I love history, and well, I will get to go to Washington D.C. which is better than Seattle,” said Berig.
