Junior High Boys Indians Win One, Lose One to Hoxie Indians

ST. FRANCIS, KAN. - The junior high boys Sainty Indians played the Hoxie Indians Tuesday, November 15. The Sainty B-Team boys walked away with a hard fought win, 20-18, but the A-Team boys lost in a nail-biting overtime 37-40.

Rylan Doyle, Saint Francis eighth grader and B-Team player said, “It was a close game, but we pulled it off.” Doyle was happy with the B-Team boys’ win, and he is excited for the next game.

On the other hand, Jessie Baxter, Saint Francis eighth grader and A-Team player said, “We didn't play our best out there.” The A-Team lost in a hard fight and ended up losing by three points. “We need to play better next time if we want to win.”

Nicholas O'Loughlin, Saint Francis head junior high boys basketball coach, said he was proud of the team's perseverance.

“The boys did not come out playing at their full potential in the first half,” said O’Loughlin, “but I was very proud of them for out performing Hoxie and making up a 10-point deficit in the second half.”

The junior high boys will play again at home on Monday, Nov. 21 against Sharon Springs at 4 p.m.
