Junior High Boys Split Games With Quinter

The junior high boys split their basketball games with the visiting Quinter Bulldogs on Monday, November 20. The St. Francis B-team won their contest 55-30, but the A-team was defeated by Quinter 16-56. In a 10-minute C-team contest,  St. Francis was defeated 0-13.

In A-team action, St. Francis struggled to score in the first half and fell behind by a large margin. Preston Witzel's drive tied the contest at 2-all early in the contest, but it was the only basket the Indians would earn in the first half. St. Francis trailed 2-33 at halftime.

Witzel's next basket, mid-way through the 3rd period moved the scoreboard to 4-39 and soon was followed by a left-wing trey by Ben Busse advancing the score to 7-41. St. Francis added 9 more points throughout the second half eventually losing 16-56.

St. Francis received 9 points from Preston Witzel in the contest. Ben Busse added 7. Quinter was led by Kyler Johnson with 17, Trent Riedel with 15, and Eli Gruenbacher with 13.

St. Francis controlled the B-team contest from the outset. The Indians jumped out to a 14-6 first quarter lead and led 38-15 at halftime. The Indians extended their lead to 20 points by the 3rd period break (45-25) and defeated the Bulldogs 55-30. 

Preston Witzel scored 25 points in the contest and Ben Busse added 24. Jordan Smull drained a couple treys to chip in 6 points. Quinter was led by Brady Albin with 8, Preston Havlas with 6, and Braden Polifka with 6.

The Indians will play Cheylin on Tuesday, November 8, in St. Francis.
